Accounts of momo agents to be blacklisted as a result of Cash-in fraud. Some individuals have taken upon themselves to do cash-in by recycling of funds with the ulterior motive of making so much income at the end of the month, the effect is that, the Business has to pay all these amounts which is an unproductive cost. Several millions of cedis are lost as a result of this cash-in recycling. This act amounts to fraud and needed to be addressed.
The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana has recently decried the increased level of fraud in the industry and rallied the support of relevant authorities to help curtail the menace. Both subscribers and Agents fell victim to various fraudulent activities. The General Secretary of the Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana-MMAAG Mr.Evans Otumfuo has disclosed advance plans by the giant Service provider MTN Momo Limited to crack the whip. Several efforts were made by the Association to avert the crisis but could not yield any result until now. Following the recent spate in fraudulent activities in the Mobile Money space, about 20,499 accounts would be terminated beginning Monday October 11,2021. Consequently, affected Owners of these accounts are advised to debit their wallets on or before the stated date.
In the coming days, details and anazole records of such would be shared with the public in the dailies as decommissioning will follow suit. Mr.Evans Otumfuo has disclosed that as Agents’ body they shall continue with relevant
authorities to sanitize the space of all forms of momo related frauds for the safety of our businesses and customers.
He further said as a Union, it’s in their best interest hence the Union supports the action and commends the business for taking such bold remedial steps.
Regular investigations would be carried out and anyone found culpable would be dealt with accordingly.
All affected persons may have to appeal to MTN for review of effect and a justification well articulated.
The Union believes this will significantly deal with future occurrences. Mr. Otumfuo has asked all persons to help expose and eliminate this common enemy of the business. The sector has a lot of issues ranging from armed robbery, fraud etc. and needed concerted effort to deal with it so as to make it safe and secure as possible.
In conclusion, about 20,499 Agents cannot continue to exercise rights as Momo Operators anymore.
How can one know if he or she is part or not please

This fraudulent activity is it about split transaction or something different that these people do in the business aside the split transaction they issued aword for the last time on Momo fraud pls explain the situation for us… And MTN Ghana has become a Google privacy whereby if u don’t accept them u can’t move but that’s not what it to be done if the person does not receive any commission per the work they will end up by finding another thing to do with their money because terminating acontract which also make a part way profit to the company is also aproblem half way..

I think blocking the agent will not help
Mtn should rather make their system solid because if it is solid those using wrong I’d for cash out won’t be able to do so
If they make the system in such a way that it will be rejected when the I’d number does not match the number on the I’d use for registration it will be better
Also they should be able to track fraudsters who withdraw money from other people’s account just like other networks

Please I don’t understand the meaning of recycling of funds. As a matter of fact this ID inclusive cash out is also not yielding anything at all because some agents enter anything then it goes. At least they should send alert or summary of transaction to agents who does not abide to this rules to deter them a little. Because it has make the work difficult for agent who always request for the ID card during cash out transaction. Customers (subscribers) should also be notified when using fake ID card for transaction so that the burden will not be on the agents. Thank you
Does this mean that only those that did not receive their cash in commission for the last month will be the only to be affected by this exercise or otherwise?
Yes that is what MTN wants to tell us because one didn’t receive his July cash in commission he or she is regarded as a fraud
How will an agent know he is among of the victims whom account will be terminated? It will be terrible if the exercise of termination of those agent will taken unaware.
Pls will there be any update to the agents involved before this termination??

I don’t think is necessary to block any advice or account because MTN can call all this customer’s and informed them. Giving notice by sending messages to it’s customers is too is right but a lot of people ignore or delete there’s messages without reading them. And they have been using it for years. Is not the right way to treats it customers, and think they should put proper measures down to prevent fraudulent registration. For the love people have for this network thus why a lot of people registered without thinking twic, some of them used many ways just to get access to the mobile money because of your company is the leading network in Ghana and can get access to network as well as mobile money. As slogan says.

We the agent are crying for help so the froud can stop, but now what are we seeing we the agent are practicing froudulent activities. Even with the cash out and it’s implementation of Id cards, there is an agent here who is making the work so difficult for us Customers go there without taking their id so when that customer comes to u and u demand I’d from that person it becomes a whole lot so please please please we the agent must do the right thing ??
When agents are defrauded, MTN will say SORRY, Agents milked that company small naa, MTN now know the fraudsters…
none of those agents are fraudsters… they only took advantage of their own system…

I don’t blame NTN but the so cool mmaag leaders who care for their own selfish interest how on earth would a business minded person invest 10000 and a just one customer comes to withdraw 5000 and you’ll be paid for four(4) cedis commission if I live at a rural area where having access to bank is difficult , you want that I do only two transactions and close for the day and that to for eight cedis you also want that we should deposit 8000 or 10,000 once and get paid for four(4) cedis as commission even a lotto sticker guest three(3) commission on each ten cedis lotto stick by his customers. I asked you leaders do you even care to know how much interest we pay on ur loans.
MTN should rather focus on the way they maltreat as(agent) how can a person work for a full month and be paid a commission of 1~10 cedis and they are there spitting rubbish on us day in and out. Meanwhile, they will be there doing useless donations to the government and others and neglecting the very people who work tirelessly for their progress. God will judge them.

-I believe there should be a different way to deal with all the Frauds acts.
-When Office finds anyone doing any bad act, I suggest the office should call them to give them warnings not only on messages because when the phone’s message inbox is full not all new messages are seen.
-Office should also understand that in building better (They should have ears to listen to the people they work with too)
-I suggest you(Office) should share New agent codes to Agent if possible, Standing outside doing cash outs, mentioning amount, Entering Codes or Pins sometimes people watch from behind its also a very big problem. Hope to be considered.

Is a good idea but this issue of recycling of cash in have to be explained more over. Agents are the most important people that bring customers into the platform and here now we’re blocking these agents without telling them the right thing to do wow MTNGH . Please can this exercise of using ID CARD for cash out to be eliminated from the process because a customer has used OLD voters ID CARD for a momo registration and now using New voters ID CARD for cashout which cannot even be used for sim registration?
